Notes from Pastor Leo Kruger

JESUS IS SAVIOR FOR THE WHOLE WORLD!!!

After His resurrection, Jesus commanded His disciples to go into all the world and tell them the good news.

Mathew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20: teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Jesus also told them that they would receive power to do this after the Holy Spirit has come upon them: "and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Jesus made it very clear that he was not just Israel's Messiah, but the whole world's.

What is so important about the resurrection?  There can be no such thing as a dead savior!  Why?  Because he is dead!  A savior must have the power over life and death, otherwise how can he save us from the grip of death?  Not only did he raise others from the dead but when he died for our sins, he had the power to raise himself from the dead: therefore declaring himself to have power over the final enemy, death itself.  John 10:17: "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.  18: No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself.  I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.  This command I have received from My Father."

Jesus also made it clear that not only did he have the power, he was the source of the power.  Just before he raised Lazarus from the dead he told Martha who the source was.

John 11:23: Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."  24: Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25: Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26: And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."

     "Do you believe this?"

What about us?  Because of the fact we believe in a risen savior, we have the confidence that we will also be raised with him and have the eternal life that only a risen savior can give.  Physical death only takes us home to spend all eternity in the presence of the Lord.  II Corinthians 5:6-8 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.  7: For we walk by faith, not by sight.  8: We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
